I don’t exactly know why the soup is called ABC Soup but may be because this soup was pretty simple to be cooked.

  • 300g potato
  • 1 stick of carrot
  • 1 tomato
  • 150g diced chicken
  • fried shallots
  • salt and pepper
  • chicken bones/chicken stock

  1. If you are using chicken bones as your chicken stock, then cover your chicken bones with water and bring to boil. After boiling, simmer it for at least 20 minutes.
  2. While waiting for the water to boil, cut your potato, carrot and tomato. Tomato gives it a little bit of sour-ish taste. Some people ignore putting tomato into the soup
  3. Discard chicken bones from the chicken broth, and add the diced chicken into the soup.
  4. Add in the carrot, tomato and potato
  5. Bring to boil and make sure that your carrot and potato are soft enough.
  6. Add in 1/2 tsp of soya sauce and a pinch of salt.
  7. Garnish with fried shallots and coriander.

With the potato, when you are peeling and dicing it, make sure you place the diced potato into cold water to prevent oxidation. My mom would normally add corn kernels to this soup. Corn kernels will add the sweetness to the soup.
